VERY Picky Eater and Drinker...HELP!!

by Ko_Ko07, Nov 04, 2008 01:30PM
Hello I have a 22 month old son and he's always been a very picky eater. Well for one thing, he doesn't drink anything but milk and water. He refuses to drink any fruit juices. I got him to drink and organic jucie called Apple and Eve but he won't drink it anymore. He will not eat ANYTHING sweet even if it's just something like jelly. He won't eat his vegtables. When I offer them to him, he just pokes it with his fingers. He will only eat Granny Smith apples and Bananas for fruits. He loves to eat rice, macaroni, mashed potatoes, grilled cheese, peanut butter sandwiches (no jelly), chicken hot dogs and chicken. But that's all. People have told me to try to sneak food in but it doesn't help, he'll either gag on it and spit it out. I want to know if him not eating sweets is normal or not and can you give me any advice on how to broaden his food variety?

It is really healthier for him to not drink juice, so intake of milk and water is ok. You are very fortunate that your son does not want sweets. Parents are trying to get their children to stop eating sweets. The most important thing is to relax. It is ok if he does not want certain foods; try again in a few weeks. Sometimes it takes 5-9 times to introduce a food to a child that they will accept, however, if they do not want it you have to not make a fuss and let it go.
