scar tissue

I had severe ulcerative colitis, couldn't even do a colon test. Doc put me on some powerful medicane. After six months decided that they were so bad that need to have colon removed. Had all except 3 inches removed. He told family he didn't see how I was even using the bathroom it was twisted so bad. I thought it was normal for my bowls to be like that until one night something happen and the awful pain in my life. Went hospital and when I started passing bm and blood the pain stopped. I passed a lot of blood that week end. And that started this long journay of test and doctors.  This doctor I think a lot of but some people sued him and no longer a doctor. He had told me that I would have to have a colon test every year for the rest of my life.

1 1/2 year I decided I need to go find a doctor. I go to a stomach doctor. She does the colon test (I only have 3 inches) and it is restricted to size of pencil. She is guessing scar tissue. She is sending me to a surgeon. I want to know what harm would it be for me not to do anything? When I ask this doctor she got attitude and said that I came to her and what did I want. Also the surgeon that took my colon out said that I would have to be on potassium the rest of my life and she told me, she didn't see why I was on it. Shoul I be on it?

You have to do something about it or you will end up with an obstruction and likely emergency surgery.  It is possible they can stretch it which is an outpatient procedure.  Is your ulcerative colitis still flaring up in that remaining 3 inches and your rectum?  If so you may want to consider the J-Pouch surgery.  It will totally eliminate your disease.  They would remove your rectum and the 3 inches, and then create a new rectum (pouch) out of your healthy small bowel and attach it to your rectal muscles.  By planning this you can avoid an emergency situation and eliminate your issues while still having full bowel function.  Good luck to you.
