has anyone tried magnets to stop smoking?

by skypeople, Nov 05, 2008 12:52PM
I have found by using magnets, it cuts down over half to more than that in desire to smoke.  I have used magnets before and then stopped using them because broke down and started smoking again.  But I am tired of the cost, the mess, and becoming (what I call) a sloppy smoker.  so has anyone else used the magnets....which fit on left ear with success?

You are the first magnet wearing person that I have come across on this forum and I have been a part of it for over a year.
I have never met anyone who has successfully cut back for longer then a few months. I don't think that it is possible. Having smoked for 38+ years, I would have been able to perfect it if it were : )

You have some decent reasons for wanting to quit, but what I don't see is for "health." Could it be that you aren't affected? Most of us are or have quit for health issues. Walking had become difficult, circulation was bad, breathing was more difficult and coughing was sporadic during the day. Most of what affects us can't be understood until you quit.

It has been 1 year, 3 weeks and 6 days since I had my last smoke. I smell wonderful, my breath isn't bad anymore, I can actually breath and walk and even jog! My endurance levels have increased and I am feeling so much better about myself and my life. I am in in the driver's seat, no longer controled by cigarettes.
Quitting is the only way to end the madness : )
Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Hi there! :) How is your quit day going? This is usually the craziest day haha just remember, it will pass.

I've never tried the magnets or even heard of them but to be honest, it sounds really interesting. Seems like it would work best as part of a system rather than the main thing you are relying on for quitting help. Now I'm sure the gum tastes a lot better now but I tried it 8 years back and I have been turned off ever since haha. I like the patches because I don't have to remember to stick to any schedule to avoid under/over dosing. I just slap a new one on sometime in the morning after I shower. Plus, I totally forgot but the patch gives you some very strange dreams. They aren't nightmares, they're just strange and very vivid. Truth be told, I am enjoying them :p

Keep us posted and let everyone know how you're doing. It'd be nice to have a quit buddy! :)
