How far gone

I'm a 28 year old male who had his first drink at 14 and began drinking heavily at 21 I haven't had a drink for 2 months and dont feel sick but I and am wondering if I should see a doctor? Is it possible to have liver damage after 7 years of heavy drinking?

hi. anything is possible. a physical with a liver panel (bloodwork) should indicate any serious damage. take care,  gm

Congratulations on two months of sobriety.

I agree with the other poster. Yes, it is possible to have temporary or even permanent liver damage after seven years of heavy drinking. Depending on what you mean by "heavy", there might be other kinds of damage as well. Or, there might be none at all.

Why not see an internist and find out where you stand?

I have schedueled blood work, so thank you for the advise. Heavy at 21 -23 was probably 8 -12 drinks (beer/mixed drinks/shots) occasionally more about 4 - 5 times a week. Heavy from age 23 to 24 was about 8 - 16 drinks, occasionally more 3 - 4 days a week. I sobered up for 10 months at 25. 26 - 27 by heavy I mean I finish about a handle (the big bottle) a week with maybe a day or two a week sober but as of my 28th B -day minus one slip up not a drop.
