Paxil & Sex & Alcohol

I was originally diagnosed with BPD and dysthymia when I was sixteen, put on Zoloft, and hated it.  I've avoided meds like the plague ever since.  Since going into therapy again several years ago, I've been working on just the REBT stuff to handle what my current therapist diagnoses as GAD and PTSD.  I also have bouts of depression.  12 years after I gave up on Zoloft, I've just become so worn down, and am willing to try anything to improve the quality of my life and get a little peace of mind.  I finally decided, despite my paranoia, to try meds again.  Paxil was recommended, and I took my first 20 mgs today.  But my doctor assured me that Paxil didn't have any sexual side effects to speak of, and in the research I've been doing today I find this to be what seems to be one of the common side effects listed for this drug.

Is it really all that common for a woman to have extreme  sexual side effects with Paxil?  Also, I'm also interested in knowing how it interacts with alcohol before finding out the hard way.  Thank!  :)

Paxil doe not interact well with alcohol..none of this class of medications should be used with alcohol of any quantity. Although paxil has sexual side effects, they should not  happen immediately or intensely.  You should ask your doctor about the old fashion medication, prozac, which does not seem to have any sexual side effect.
